I was given the opportunity to photograph a lifestyle editorial for a Enfants Terribles, a Danish magazine I love particularly for its strong imagery, playful mission and free thinking when it comes to artistic expression involving children. The title of the magazine (pronounced on-FONT terr-EE-bluh) is French to indicate "one who 'thumbs their nose' at the establishment, or challenges it."
For this issue, every artist who contributed worked under the common theme of "The Earth Child," our sole direction to create something speaking to our own interpretation of that theme. Together with fresh fruit, vegetable and floral styling by Corey Villicana and Jina Javier for their Thistle blog, and clothing from the brand new, Hi-Summer "Going Places" mini range from Children of the Tribe, I created a living rainbow using six children ages nine and under, one representing each color.
I infused the rainbow theme with many of my favorite moments from our chilly afternoon at Ellwood Bluffs: loose captures and outtakes of the children unguided and exploring the landscape freely. Here are my favorites from the shoot, and HERE is the link to the stunning Enfants Terribles publication, where my piece begins on page 166.
